Moshpit Motion Book

Overview

This book is dedicated to visualize ten different dance movements that are commonly seen in heavy metal concerts using pure typography.

Human collective behavior can vary from calm to panicked depending on social context. Highly energized heavy metal concerts generate chaotic, human behavior. According to the researchers this behavior is linked with the collective motion of attendees at heavy metal concerts. In mosh pits concert attendees move randomly, colliding with one another in unidirectional fashion.

A circle pit is where attendees form a swirling vortex. The moshers bounce off each other when they collide. They can move independently, and they can flock or follow each other to varying degrees.
